Joint Letter Calls for Bipartisan Leadership Through COVID-19

The Detroit Regional Chamber joined 14 statewide business organizations in signing a letter to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield, and Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey encouraging bipartisan collaboration to ensure businesses can continue to operate safely through this public health and economic crisis.

Chambers of commerce from across the state thanked the state’s leadership for their service and proposed the following points for consideration:

  • Businesses need clarity, consistency, and transparency on decisions made.
  • All industries should be allowed to open with proper safety protocols.
  • Going forward, we must be precise on how we control outbreaks.
  • Continue to utilize best practices – informed by data – on ways to protect our citizens.
