Where to Walk in for a COVID Vaccine Shot in Southeast Michigan

The days of logging on to a chain pharmacy’s website in the middle of the night to score a COVID-19 vaccination appointment are pandemic history.

Those days may just be a month or so in the rear view, but an apparent plateau in the number of Michigan residents actively seeking a vaccine has prompted some medical providers to pivot from inoculations by-appointment-only to walk-ins-welcome.

Here is a running list of walk-in appointments in Southeast Michigan (if your clinic is not listed, email me at clivengood@crain.com or add it in the comments area below):

Ann Arbor
  • Location: Michigan Stadium, 1201 S. Main St.
  • When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 26 to April 29
  • Who: Anyone has been a Michigan Medicine patient through any University of Michigan hospital or clinic. Patients are asked to bring their medical record number or UM patient registration card.
  • More information: Vaccination clinic is in the Jack Roth Stadium Club on the east side of the stadium. Enter off Stadium Boulevard near Crisler Center or take Main Street to Keech Avenue to Kipke Drive. Free parking next to the stadium club entrance in Lot SC1 and Lot SC4. Download a map here.
  • Vaccine: Two-dose Pfizer shot for individuals age 16 and up.

Belleville
  • Location: Wayne County Community College-Ted Scott Campus, 9555 Haggerty Road
  • When: 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday

Dearborn
  • Location: Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.
  • When: 8 a.m.-noon, 1:30-6 p.m. and 6:30-7 p.m. daily

  • Ages: 18 and older

Detroit
Clinics run by the Detroit Health Department are taking walk-ins, including at TCF Center and the Northwest Activities Center. Text 313-217-3732 to find the closest clinic.

Sterling Heights

  • Ages: 18 and older

Taylor
  • Location: Wayne County Community College – Downriver Campus, 21000 Northline Road
  • When: 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday
  • Sponsor: Wayne County Health Department
Retailers
  • Walmart and Sam’s Club stores are taking walk-ins, though appointments are encouraged. Book appointments at Walmart here and Sam’s Club here.
  • Meijer Inc. is setting aside at least 100 doses a week available at each of its in-store pharmacies for walk-ups on a first come, first served basis. Appointment can be made by texting COVID to the number 75049 or register online at clinic.meijer.com.
