Detroit Regional Chamber CEO on Ford’s Announcement of Alan Mulally’s Retirement, Mark Fields Named President and CEO

DETROIT, May 1, 2014: Today, the Detroit Regional Chamber’s President and CEO Sandy K. Baruah issued the following statement on Ford’s announcement that Alan Mulally will retire on July 1, with Mark Fields being named Ford president and CEO and elected as a member of the company’s board of directors:

“There is no doubt that Alan Mulally will be remembered at Ford as the leader who saved the company, and in the history books as one of the great business minds. But given the product war that lays ahead, including Ford’s challenge to rebuild the Lincoln brand, Mark Fields is the right leader at the right time going forward.  I salute Mulally’s historic contribution as much I look forward to Fields’ leadership.”
