Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO on Detroit’s Mayoral Election and Mike Duggan’s Victory

DETROIT, November 5, 2013 – Today, Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy K. Baruah issued the following statement regarding the Detroit mayoral election and Mike Duggan’s victory:

“The Detroit Regional Chamber would like to acknowledge three key elements of this result. First, we are excited about Mike’s energy, vision and most importantly, the turnaround expertise he brings to City Hall. Mike’s leadership and proven success will serve Detroit well. We look forward to assisting the Duggan administration in any possible way in working to move the city forward.

Second, we would also like to thank Benny Napoleon for his public service and candidacy in this critical election.

And third, it is important as we turn the page in the city’s electoral history that we recognize the contributions of Mayor Bing. His commitment to the city and his unwavering integrity have made the city’s bright future possible.”

The Chamber’s Political Action Committee endorsed Mike Duggan at the beginning of his write-in candidacy in the primary election and supported him and city council candidates through the general election. For a full list of Chamber PAC-endorsed candidates, click here.
