Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO on the Memorandum of Understanding for the Downtown Detroit Events Center District

DETROIT, June 19, 2013 – Today, Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy K. Baruah issued the following statement on the announcement that the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors voted in favor of a Memorandum of Understanding for the $650 million downtown Detroit Events Center District:

“The Detroit Regional Chamber is excited to hear this great news. It’s an important step in the process that will help unify downtown Detroit and Midtown. This is a prime example of the transformative power of the public-private partnerships that are driving the renaissance under way in this great city and region. This is more tangible proof of the very real business and employment opportunities in Detroit’s future, which is important to highlight as the city works through its financial challenges.”
