Detroit Regional Chamber’s Political Action Committee Endorses Mayor Mike Duggan for Reelection

January 19, 2021
DETROIT (Jan. 19, 2021) – Today, the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Political Action Committee (PAC) announced its unanimous endorsement of Mayor Mike Duggan in Detroit’s municipal election.

“Mayor Duggan is one of the finest mayors in the nation and Detroit continues to benefit from his bold leadership,” said Brad Williams, vice president of Government Relations for the Chamber. “In 2020, we saw how much Mayor Duggan’s leadership mattered in guiding the city amid national crises in pursuit of racial justice and navigating the COVID-19 pandemic that cost too many lives. That is continuing with the city’s vaccination rollout.”

The Chamber’s PAC endorsed Mayor Duggan early on in his initial bid for Mayor in 2013 and reaffirmed its support in 2017 during his first mayoral reelection effort.

“Detroit has a significant economic ripple effect throughout Southeast Michigan, and the Mayor’s ability to work with the state and Biden administration to move the city and region forward will serve us well,” Williams said. “The Detroit Regional Chamber’s PAC is proud to support Mayor Duggan’s reelection.”

The Chamber PAC Board of Directors regularly meets to identify and support pro-business candidates and policies that are in line with the Chamber’s public policy priorities. The Chamber PAC Board is comprised of business leaders representing bipartisan views and reflecting diversity in industry, business size, and location. The Chamber PAC historically makes bipartisan endorsements based on alignment with the Chamber’s legislative policy priorities.
