Ed Krause

Global Manager, External Alliances, Research and Advanced Engineering, Ford Motor Co.

Ed-low kB picture-6-08-(009)Krause is currently global manager, external alliances, research and advanced engineering at Ford Motor Co.  He has global responsibility for developing cutting-edge technology and competitive advantage for Ford by developing relationships and collaborative R&D projects involving universities and partner companies.  He has responsibility for Ford’s university alliances and collaborative research programs including strategic alliances with MIT, University of Michigan, Stanford and RWTH Aachen as well as Ford’s global University Research Program, the Ford-Boeing Strategic Alliance and other corporate interactions.

Prior to joining Ford in 1999, Krause held a variety of positions at Pilot Industries Inc. including materials research project manager, manager of R&D, manager of market development, and director of IT. In his R&D management capacities he was responsible for formulating and executing R&D strategy, formulating intellectual property strategy, forming strategic alliances, developing an array of proprietary technologies that yielded competitive advantage and developing new non-automotive markets for proprietary technologies. As director of I&T, he was responsible for the information technology strategy, acquisition, staffing and support for the corporation.

Krause holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in materials science and engineering from the University of Michigan, is a graduate of the Executive Education Program of the University of Michigan School of Business Administration. He also holds nine U.S. and several foreign patents.
