Detroit in Context Learning Journey

Detroit is a complicated city. It has tons of amazing assets but also faces many challenges. One thing is for sure, Detroit is much more than headlines and stereotypes. On this learning journey, you will be taken around the city by an expert guide who will provide context and local insight into Detroit’s neighborhoods, small businesses, and community projects. You’ll also meet residents and local leaders who are coming up with innovative solutions to the challenges the city faces. This immersive experience will help both longtime residents and newcomers understand how Detroit’s history shaped where we are today, connect with what’s happening now, and be inspired to be a part of building an equitable and thriving Detroit.
Tour includes continental breakfast, lunch, and motor coach transportation.
Early bird admission price of $100 available until midnight on 02/29/24 when admission cost will rise to $125.

Ticket Inclusions: Your ticket includes continental breakfast, lunch, learning journey, guide narrative, and motor coach transportation. Check-in: The tour begins promptly at the start time. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the tour, and check in with your guide.
Ticketing: No need to print your ticket. Arrive a few minutes early to check-in and give the guide your name. That’s it! If your plans change and you can’t make it, please cancel your booking at least 48 hours prior to the tour date to open up your spot to another participant
Weather Policy:
Tours will occur rain or shine, unless weather prohibits transportation or adversely affects our partners on the date of the tour for the time of the tour. Weather related cancellation or ticket transfer requests will not be approved unless submitted at least 72 hours in advance of the event start time. If a severe weather event causes the tour to be canceled, City Institute will offer to transfer participant tickets to another date or provide a refund.

Parking: Free and secure parking is available in the marked Tech Town lot at the northeast corner of Cass and Amsterdam. If you see street parking, go ahead and snag it.
