Kenneth Kelly

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, First Independence Bank

Kenneth Kelly serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of First Independence Corp and First Independence Bank. In five years of his leadership, the corporation has doubled in book value. 

In March 2023, he was selected as a Board Member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis with assets totaling around $70 billion to fill an unexpired term. Kelly served as the Chairperson of the Auburn University Engineering Alumni Council and named the Kenneth Kelly Center for Inclusive Engineering Reception Area. He was Auburn University’s commencement speaker in 2021. 

In Feb. 2020, he was inducted into the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame. Kelly is the author of Prepared Before I Let Go. He is a Crain’s Most Notable Leader in Diversity, one of Detroit Business Magazine’s Top 500 Corporate Leaders, and was featured on the Chavis Chronicle (A PBS National Program focused on relevant leaders in the US). 

Kelly earned an Electrical Engineering degree from Auburn University and completed the Executive Master of Business Administration program at the University of Alabama.
