Largest ‘Discover Auto’ Event Yet Exposes UM-Dearborn Students to Exciting Industry Careers, Opportunities

Efforts to change perceptions of the automotive industry and expand the talent pipeline continue. More than 90 students from the University of Michigan-Dearborn joined MICHauto and 12 of its investor companies last week to learn about exciting careers as part of MICHauto’s ongoing Discover Auto series. The event garnered the largest attendance in its three-year history.

Tim Yerdon, vice president of marketing, communications and design for Visteon, delivered keynote remarks, discussing the impact of talent in maintaining Michigan’s automotive leadership. Participants also heard firsthand testimony from a panel of two UM-Dearborn alumni who currently work in the industry and had the opportunity to network with a number of companies including: American Axle & Manufacturing, Denso, Faurecia, Hyundai Motor Group, International Automotive Components (IAC), IAV, Magna International, Mahindra & Mahindra, Nissan Motor Co., Toyota Motor Co., Visteon and Yazaki.
