Maggie DeSantis

President, Warren/Conner Development Coalition

Maggie DeSantis is the president of the Warren/Conner Development Coalition (WCDC), an organization she has been a part of for 29 years. Her leadership efforts have played a pivotal role in growing the WCDC into one of Detroit’s largest and leading community development organizations, pioneering strategies for workforce development, a nationally recognized youth substance abuse prevention/after-school program, and serving as a key Eastside advocacy organization.

Involved with community development field in Detroit for nearly 40 years, DeSantis’ previous roles include several additional leadership roles, including the founding of the “Save Our Spirit Coalition” and Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD). She also served as the Chair of the CDAD “Community Development Futures Task Force,” and is currently the Vice Chair of the CDAD Board of Directors.

DeSantis’ illustrious career has garnered many awards, some of which include receiving the NANBPW “Professional Woman of the Year” Awardin 1991; being named the “Executive Woman of the Year” in Detroit in 2002 by Grant Thornton Accounting Firm, Butzel Long Law Firm and Comerica Bank; and winning the Northeast Guidance Centers’ “Community Builder” Award in 2012.

DeSantis is a graduate of Wayne State University and Central Michigan University, as well as the National Internship in Community Economic Development.
