MICHauto Showcases Auto Suppliers at Annual Legislator Reception in Lansing

MICHauto, an initiative of the Detroit Regional Chamber, hosted 25 state legislators, their staffs and other invited guests at its annual Supplier Reception on Wednesday, May 6 to improve familiarity and increase communication between Michigan’s automotive stakeholders and legislative leadership in Lansing. The event served as a platform to provide legislators with valuable insight into industry trends and cutting-edge technologies impacting the automotive industry.

Participating companies included: American Axle, AMI Manchester, Axis Systems, BorgWarner, DENSO, Hella, IAV, Lacks Enterprises, Magna International Inc., Kautex, Shiloh and TI Automotive. Collectively, these suppliers have 98 facilities in Michigan – across 57 communities – and employ nearly 25,000 workers. To view pictures from the reception, click here.

The 2015 Mackinac Policy Conference is less than two weeks away. Nominate a Candidate for Leadership Detroit Class XXXVII, Deadline May 22

The Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program is searching for high-potential leaders who would be ideal candidates for Class XXXVII.

Leadership Detroit is a community leadership program with more than 1,800 alumni that strives to connect leaders and inspire positive change in the Detroit region. Classes include approximately 70 individuals in the 10-month program representing a cross section of the community, including: business, organized labor, government, education, media, civic groups, arts and culture, health and human services, and community development organizations.

Regional Transit Authority Seeks Public Input on Master Plan for Southeast Michigan

The Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan (RTA) is seeking public input to develop a regional master plan for rapid transit in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. Support for a connected and efficient transportation system remains a top priority for the Detroit Regional Chamber and implementation of the RTA’s strategy aligns with the Chamber’s No. 1 legislative priority for developing a world-class transportation system.

Open house events will be held on Monday, May 18 from 1 to 7:30 p.m. inside the Eastern Michigan University Student Center in Ypsilanti, and on Tuesday, May 19 from 1 to 7:30 p.m. at the Larry K. Lewis Education Center Room 116 at Wayne County Community College District. Additional open houses will be held at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Macomb Community College and Royal Oak Detroit Elks Lodge.

Learn Best Practices for Hiring Michigan Veterans at Upcoming Seminar, June 5

A panel of experts from government agencies and veteran support organizations will share insight on how to build and implement effective hiring strategies for current and former military service members during a one-day conference on June 5 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.
