MICHauto Announces 2015 Volunteer, Legislator of the Year

Last week, MICHauto presented Frank Ervin III, senior director of government affairs at Magna International, with its 2015 Volunteer of the Year award at its Annual Meeting at the Detroit Athletic Club. Magna has been a key partner in MICHauto’s efforts to promote, retain and grow the automotive industry in Michigan, and Ervin’s leadership as chair of the advocacy committee strengthens the credibility of MICHauto as an informative resource on legislative activity important to the industry.

In May, Ervin testified in front of the Michigan House Committee on Roads and Economic Development about Magna’s more than $800 million in investment in the state, highlighting the importance of economic development incentives for businesses. In addition, Ervin continues to educate government leaders at the local, state and national level on a variety of important issues related to the automotive industry.

Sen. Steve Bieda (D-Warren) was named Legislator of the Year for his dedication as a leading advocate for Michigan’s automotive industry in the state Legislature. Bieda and Sen. Mike Kowall (R-White Lake) formed the Michigan Automotive Caucus in 2015. The bipartisan group of over 65 state lawmakers focuses on cultivating industry knowledge and building consensus on legislation affecting automakers and suppliers.
