MICHauto Brings Michigan Auto Suppliers Together to Underscore Industry’s Significance to the State

The Detroit Regional Chamber’s MICHauto program will gather more than a dozen of the top Michigan auto supply companies to demonstrate the collective impact of the auto industry and, more specifically, the supplier base on the state’s economy.

MICHauto’s Supplier Fair and Legislative Reception is hosted to increase awareness of Michigan’s automotive supply base among state policy makers and foster communication about the importance of the industry between suppliers and their legislators. The 2016 event will take place on Tuesday May 3rd from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Troppo restaurant in Lansing. The Chamber has invited each member of the Michigan House and Senate and expects members of the Michigan Automotive Caucus to be among the at least 30 legislative offices that should attend.

“It is important for everyone in Michigan, from lawmakers to business people to citizens, to make sure we don’t take the auto industry for granted in a fast-changing and increasingly competitive environment,” said Glenn Stevens, vice president-MICHauto and strategic development at the Detroit Regional Chamber. “This event is an important reminder that Michigan is and must remain a global center of automotive supply and policies that are crucial to the future of the state’s economy.”

MICHauto is a statewide initiative of the Detroit Regional Chamber dedicated to promoting, retaining and growing the automotive industry in Michigan. MICHauto embodies a public-private strategy, championing Michigan as the global epicenter of the automotive industry and providing a platform for collaboration on advocacy, business attraction and retention, and talent attraction and development. Serving as the unified voice of Michigan’s automotive cluster, MICHauto works closely with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Original Equipment Suppliers Association, Center for Automotive Research and other Michigan and national organizations.
