MICHauto Leads Group of Michigan-Based Auto Suppliers to Meet With Legislators in Lansing, Raise Awareness About Industry

LANSING, May 6, 2015 – Today, MICHauto, an initiative of the Detroit Regional Chamber, is taking a dozen Michigan-based automotive suppliers to Lansing to meet with members of the Michigan Legislature. The second annual MICHauto Supplier Fair and Legislative Reception is designed to improve familiarity and increase communication between Michigan’s automotive stakeholders and legislative leadership in Lansing.

“The response from both legislators and automotive suppliers has been overwhelmingly positive and demonstrates the interest in working together to promote and grow Michigan’s signature industry,” said Glenn Stevens, vice president of MICHauto and Strategic Development for the Chamber. “This event offers policymakers a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight into industry trends and cutting-edge technologies impacting the automotive industry.”

Participating suppliers include:

  • American Axle
  • AMI Manchester
  • Axis Systems
  • BorgWarner
  • Hella
  • IAV
  • Lacks Enterprises
  • Magna International
  • Kautex
  • Shiloh
  • TI Automotive

Collectively, these suppliers have 98 facilities in Michigan – across 57 communities – and employ nearly 25,000 Michigan workers. Over 80 members of the Michigan House of Representatives and Senate, including members of the recently formed Automotive Caucus, are expected to attend.

“MICHauto is committed to raising awareness about the economic impact that automotive suppliers have across this state and the importance of making sure Michigan retains its position as the global automotive leader,” Stevens said.
