Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry is the official provider of ferry transportation for the 2015 Mackinac Policy Conference. Shepler’s will have a complete list of Conference attendees and will provide all registered attendees with one complimentary round trip ticket to and from the island.

Shepler’s will be fully staffed on Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27 in anticipation of Conference attendee arrivals.

Parking at Shepler’s

There are two parking options available: Outdoor unsecured for $10 or Outdoor fenced for $30 for two nights. Both parking options include vehicle Drop-Off Service, meaning that Shepler’s will take your vehicle from the Drop-Off Area to your selected lot and bring it back to the main lot upon your return from the island.

Shepler’s is also implementing a new computerized system for vehicle inventory this year, which will make it easier for attendees to retrieve vehicles when returning from the island.

Shepler’s will be enforcing a carry-on policy similar to airlines. Due to safety precautions, rolling suitcases and large bags will not be accepted as carry-on luggage on the ferry. If you wish to claim your luggage at the Island Dock instead of having it delivered to your hotel, please let the ferry staff know so Shepler’s can “pink tag” your bags and you can retrieve your items on the dock after departing the ferry.

After the Conference

Be sure to keep the return portion of your round-trip ticket for your departure from the Island.  If you do not have the return portion, you will need to purchase a one-way ticket on the Island dock.

Shepler’s will be inspecting baggage claim checks as you exit the luggage areas upon your return.  To make this a smooth process, be sure to have those claim checks ready when you pick up your bags.

When returning, we ask that you take your conference bags on the ferry as carry-on luggage or pack them in your suitcase.  Since these bags are identical, they are easily mixed up and bags can be taken by mistake.

Claim Checks

Shepler’s will be inspecting luggage claim checks as guests leave the luggage areas in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. This is a change from last year, aiming to prevent anyone from taking the wrong bags.
