Rosalynn Bliss

Mayor, City of Grand Rapids

Rosalynn Bliss is the city of Grand Rapids’ first female mayor. As Mayor, she is committed to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs as well as addressing disparities in the community.  She also is committed to engaging the community in local government.

Bliss previously served as a Second Ward city commissioner for 10 years and as vice president of the Michigan Municipal League. She serves on the boards of the Interurban Transit Partnership, Kent County Land Bank Authority, Downtown Development Authority, Experience Grand Rapids and Grand Valley Metro Council, among many other organizations. She is a member of the West Michigan Environmental Leadership Network, and she serves on Gov. Rick Snyder’s Child Lead Poisoning Elimination Board. Additionally, Bliss is an adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University’s School of Social Work.

Bliss has been honored for her commitment and work in the field of child abuse and neglect and for her leadership in the community. Recognitions include Crain’s Detroit Business’ “100 Most Influential Women” and Grand Rapids Business Journal’s “50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan.”
