State Seeking Comments on First Comprehensive Freight Plan

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has released a draft of the Michigan Freight Plan for public review and comment. The plan is a new supplement to the 2035 MI Transportation Plan that includes a list of projects designed to address freight mobility in Michigan. MDOT is seeking comments on the plan through August 7.

The plan is available for viewing online here or at MDOTs region offices and Transportation Service Centers. The Michigan Freight Plan provides a comprehensive overview of the state’s freight transportation system, including existing assets, system performance and the investments required to ensure long-term success. A multi-modal and intermodal resource, the plan provides an overall framework for freight system improvements and priorities. It is an element of the 2035 MI Transportation Plan and integrates its overall vision, goals, objectives, strategies and decision-making principles. For more information, click here.
