Walsh College grants up to $10K merit awards to all undergraduate students with 3.75 GPA

TROY, Mich., Nov. 18, 2021 — Walsh College is awarding up to $10,000 academic excellence merit awards to all new undergraduate students with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher. Graduate students with a GPA of 3.75 or higher will qualify for a limited number of $6,000 academic excellence awards. Numerous scholarship opportunities for student who do not meet the GPA requirement are available as well.

“Many students are facing new financial challenges and we never want those to be a barrier to education. Walsh is proud to provide these funds to remove some financial burden and allow students to focus on their studies and prepare for successful careers,” said Heide Wisby, director of financial aid.

Expanding the scholarship program to increase access to education is a primary focus of Walsh’s centennial campaign, which was recently launched ahead of the 100th anniversary of the school’s founding in 2022. Walsh provided more than $500K in grants, awards and scholarships to incoming students in the fall 2021 semester.

Walsh College gifting $500K in scholarships for new students starting in fall semester

TROY, Mich., Aug. 19, 2021 — Walsh College is awarding more than $500,000 in grants and scholarships for newly admitted students who start in the fall semester, which begins Sept. 22, 2021. The Student Assistance Fund and other scholarships and merit awards are available to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students enrolled at least half time. The college will provide students personal assistance through the scholarship application and class registration process.

“Many students have lost educational funding through their employers or are facing new financial hardships. Walsh wants to ensure these students can continue with their plans toward a successful future. We can’t wait to award these funds to our new incoming students,” said Jesús Hernández, vice president and chief enrollment officer.

Walsh recently enhanced its internationally ranked Master of Business Administration (MBA) program to include courses in business law, communication, design thinking and leading diversity, equity and inclusion change in organizations. Other new programs include a Cyber MBA, combining business acumen and cyber risk mitigation, and a dual Master of Accountancy/MBA, which provide students without an undergraduate degree in business the 24 general business credits needed to sit for the CPA exam.

Attendance options for the fall semester include 100% online, on ground, remote synchronous or a combination. The college recently launched state-of-the-art connected classrooms allowing faculty, in-person and remote students to interact seamlessly in real time.

Walsh College Raises $107,000 at Wine Gala Scholarship Benefit

Walsh College raised $107,000 for student scholarships from alumni, friends, sponsors, and the public attending its 12th annual Wine Gala at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Mich., held earlier this month.

Total dollars raised for scholarships in the event’s history now stand at more than $700,000.

“Our deserving business students benefit directly from the generous support generated from this important event,” said Audrey Olmstead, vice president and chief development officer. “We are very grateful for the interest and commitment to the high-quality business education that is a hallmark of Walsh College.”

More than 350 people attended the event. Rare wines for the evening were donated from the private collections of Van Conway, member, Walsh College Board of Trustees, and Bob Cummings, a Walsh College friend. Cummings has donated rare wines to the event since it began.
