UHY Cares Charity Poker Tournament Brings in Over $41k

March 1, 2019
Employees, their friends and associates of UHY LLP, certified public accountants, in conjunction with UHY Cares, the firm’s independent 501c(3)organization, celebrated their 12th annual Texas Hold‘Em tournament on Feb. 7. The charity poker event was held at Petruzello’s in Troy, Michigan and was packed with 175+ players, dozens of sponsors and donors who helped raise funds for several local nonprofit entities.

“We had surprise donations from multiple friends of the firm that we were extremely grateful for,” said Steve McCarty, newly elected national CEO. “Our attendees, donors and sponsors make this event special, everyone is having fun with a little friendly competition and raising money for a number of great organizations in the process. “It’s a great event that receives more and more interest every year.”

These donations come on the heels of the firm’s 50th anniversary in which they contributed $50,000 to 50 local charities in the form of $1,000 donations.

UHY LLP, a certified public accounting firm, operates its charitable giving activities through UHY Cares, an independent nonprofit 501c3 organization. Cares, which was incorporated nearly 10 years ago, was an idea inspired by employees and is volunteer based. Through UHY Cares, employees are able to give back to the community, including helping individuals going through personal emergencies or hardships. UHY Cares Michigan has provided assistance to over 150 local charities and families and continues to grow this list every year.
