Henry Cooney is the president and CEO of Plunkett Cooney, a law firm that provides a range of transactional and litigation services. The leader of the firm since 1998, Cooney manages the firm’s 325 employees, which includes 160 attorneys in 11 offices. His responsibilities include ensuring the delivery of world-class service to clients, recruitment and retention of high quality lawyers and staff, community outreach and continued growth of the firm.
Prior to taking on his current role, Cooney practiced for 26 years in the areas of product liability, construction liability, commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. He is serving as the Chair of the 2014 Mackinac Policy Conference.
Cooney has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
