Mike Duggan

Mayor, City of Detroit

Mike Duggan is Mayor of the City of Detroit, currently serving his third four-year term. He has spent his entire career working in the city to solve some of its most complex issues.

During his first term in office, Duggan focused on restoring strong fiscal management and improving essential city services – including creating more affordable housing, priority hiring for Detroiters with new and existing companies located in the city, and greater support for the city’s small businesses.

Before running for Mayor, Duggan served as CEO of the Detroit Medical Center, where he partnered with employees and unions to lead the Detroit Medical Center out of near bankruptcy and back to profitability in his first year (2004). Previously, Duggan served as Deputy Wayne County Executive under Ed McNamara from 1987 through 2000, then later as Wayne County Prosecutor from 2001 to 2003.

A lifelong Detroiter, Duggan was born and lived on Detroit’s West Side and attended Catholic Central High School when it was still located in Detroit. He is a proud University of Michigan graduate, where he attended both undergraduate and law school.
