Several of Michigan’s largest business groups on Thursday criticized state Attorney General Dana Nessel’s “frivolous” plan to sue the fossil fuel industry over climate change, saying it would hurt the economy.
They also questioned the Democrat’s strategy to hire outside lawyers to pursue the litigation, which the organizations said would enrich a “select few.” Proposals were due Wednesday, and Nessel is expected to decide on a firm by Aug. 2 after signaling the lawsuit in May.
