DETROIT (July 11, 2022) – Today, the Detroit Regional Chamber announced Matt Elliott, president of Bank of America Michigan, as Chair of the 2023 Mackinac Policy Conference and First Vice Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
“I am delighted to be working alongside Matt Elliott and his Bank of America team on both the 2023 Mackinac Policy Conference and leading the Chamber,” said Sandy K. Baruah, president and chief executive officer of the Chamber. “In addition to his role as a premier business leader, Matt has demonstrated exceptional leadership in making the business case for more equitable outcomes in education and in the workplace – two key Chamber priorities. As businesses strive to attract and retain the high-skill talent needed in today’s hyper-competitive environment, Matt’s insights will be invaluable.”
Elliott joined the Chamber’s Board in 2013 and began serving on its Executive Committee in 2015. Elliott serves in a dual role as president of Bank of America Michigan and as the Midwest region executive for Business Banking at Bank of America. As president, Elliott serves as the company’s enterprise leader in Michigan, working with company leaders across the state to help deliver on Bank of America’s mission of improving financial lives. As a region executive for Business Banking, Elliott leads teams of professionals who deliver integrated financial solutions to companies and institutions across eight states.
“The Mackinac Policy Conference is vitally important, now more than ever, for business leaders and organizations to come together and focus on how we can collectively leverage and explore ways in which to deliver for employees, customers, and citizens of our communities,” said Elliott. “I look forward to serving as Chair of the 2023 Conference as we bring together Michigan’s top leadership to discuss the exceptional power of ‘and’ to help drive economic growth along with greater opportunity and equity across our cities and state.”
Planning for the 2023 Conference will begin this summer. Elliott will lead an advisory committee of Michigan-based CEOs and Chamber leadership to develop the theme and agenda for next year’s event, which will take place Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2, 2023, at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
