More than two-thirds of Michigan’s voters are dissatisfied with the condition of democracy in the U.S. and a quarter either do not agree that it is the best form of government or do not know.

A small but not insignificant number, 5% — mostly Republicans — say force, violence or threats are justified even if the presidential candidate they support loses the 2024 election and all the votes are counted fairly.

The results from the latest Detroit Regional Chamber statewide poll, released Tuesday in conjunction with the start of the annual Mackinac Policy Conference, are alarming for the business group.
