Ernst & Young LLP Names George Lenyo as Detroit Managing Partner

June 13, 2013
Detroit, MI, June 13, 2013 – Ernst & Young LLP announces that George Lenyo will serve as the new Managing Partner of the firm’s Detroit office, effective July 1, 2013. Lenyo will be responsible for the deployment of the office’s 500 assurance, tax, advisory, transaction and business support professionals. He will also lead local client and community service activities. Lenyo succeeds Jeff Bergeron, who has led the Detroit practice since 2003.

Lenyo brings more than 18 years of accounting and business consulting experience to clients across Michigan and northwest Ohio. In addition to his new leadership role, he will continue to serve as global coordinating service partner for several large clients in the Midwest Region.

“George has been instrumental in contributing to the growth of our Detroit practice,” said Bergeron. “His commitment to delivering exceptional client service, developing our people and making an impact in the Detroit community make him an ideal choice to build on the success we’ve achieved in southeast Michigan.”

Active in the community, Lenyo serves on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Executive Committee for the American Cancer Society. Committed to education reform, Lenyo is the Executive Sponsor for College Mentoring for Access and Persistence in Detroit – a program that provides coaching, mentoring and training to high school students in underserved communities.

“Giving back to the community has always been a priority,” said Lenyo. “I’m eager to step up my efforts, as well as support the contributions of my Ernst & Young colleagues, to make a positive difference in the greater Detroit area.”

A native of Sandusky, Ohio, Lenyo joined the firm’s Cleveland office in 1995 after graduating from John Carroll University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He is a licensed CPA and is a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Lenyo lives in Northville, Michigan, with his wife and two daughters.
