Chamber Honored for Strengthening Student Success Through Education Partnerships

March 13, 2018
The Detroit Regional Chamber was recognized with the “Beacon Award” during a special ceremony at the Michigan College Access Network’s (MCAN) eighth annual Conference on Monday, March 12.

The award recognizes recipients for continually uniting programs, activities and operations in support of postsecondary education. The Chamber’s work to increase the number of adults in the region with postsecondary degrees aligns with the MCAN “Big Goal” of 60 percent postsecondary attainment by 2025. The Chamber’s work is accomplished through Detroit Drives Degrees and the Detroit Promise, both initiatives under the umbrella of the Forward Detroit economic development strategy.

Greg Handel, vice president of education and talent, accepted the award and offered his gratitude to all of the partners that collaborate to increase higher education results in the region. Read more about the award here.
