MACKINAC ISLAND (May 30, 2024) – Today, the Detroit Regional Chamber announced Peter Quigley, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kelly, as the Chair of the 2025 Mackinac Policy Conference and the First Vice Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Peter Quigley“Kelly sits on both sides of the talent equation, and I look forward to applying that lens to the Conference as we look to create a more prosperous Michigan,” said Quigley. “Business, philanthropy, and government can’t do it alone – it takes us all working together and that’s the beauty of the Mackinac Policy Conference. It convenes the state’s top leadership to take on the most pressing issues we face as a state.”

Prior to being named Chief Executive Officer in 2019, Quigley held the role of Executive Vice President of Kelly, President of Global Staffing, and General Manager responsible for aligning Kelly corporate functions to the company’s growth strategies. In his 21 years with Kelly, he has also held executive leadership positions across operations, global sales, and account management. He also inspired the company’s Equity@Work platform, which seeks to upend systemic barriers to employment and make the U.S. labor market more equitable and accessible for more people.

“Peter has been a tremendous leader on talent and a great ambassador for the Chamber as we work to increase educational attainment and strengthen Michigan’s talent pipeline,” said Sandy K. Baruah, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Detroit Regional Chamber. “With talent being the number one issue facing employers, we’re excited to have Peter help shape next year’s Conference.”

Quigley has served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors since 2020 and on the Executive Committee since 2023. He also chairs the Chamber’s CEO Talent Council, which is comprised of regional business leaders, providing strategic direction to the Chamber’s education and talent portfolio as it works to increase educational attainment in the Detroit Region to 60% and cut the racial equity gap in half by 2030.

Planning for the 2025 Conference will begin this summer. Quigley will lead an advisory committee of Michigan-based Chief Executive Officers and Chamber leadership to develop the theme and agenda for next year’s event, which will take place from Tuesday, May 27, to Friday, May 30, at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

The Mackinac Policy Conference – the Chamber’s annual statewide event – convenes Michigan’s most influential audience to engage in collaborative dialogue on the state’s economic future. Since 1981, the Conference has provided a unique-in-the-nation experience for Michigan’s top business, government, civic, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial leaders. As Michigan’s premier policy event, the Conference attracts more than 1,500 attendees annually to discuss key issues facing the state. The Conference concludes with an actionable To-Do List that transforms dialogue into positive outcomes to create a more business-friendly climate in Michigan.
