On June 7, over 30 college students gathered at Deloitte’s Downtown Detroit office for a packed day of career readiness activities and skill-building to help them prepare for their upcoming transition to the professional world.
During the workshop, students got a first-hand look at Deloitte’s office space while meeting with their professionals to learn about career paths in the professional services industry, like accounting and finance, cybersecurity, and project management.
In addition to networking, the workshop included skill-building activities led by Deloitte professionals. Students learned about leading practices on writing a resume, practiced their interview skills, listened to a panel discussion on the recruitment and early career experience at Deloitte, and explored Business Chemistry®, Deloitte’s science-based approach to strengthening teams and enhancing business relationships. In addition to new relationships and skills, participants left the event with a professional headshot.
The Detroit Regional Chamber helped Deloitte build the program agenda, as well as recruited students from its Detroit Promise program and partner colleges and universities. Events like this are part of the Chamber’s ongoing strategy to promote the Detroit Region’s high-value career pathways and connect students to employers through career exposure and work-based learning.
