Detroit Drives Degrees Announces New Senior Director

After an extensive search, the Detroit Regional Chamber is excited to announce the promotion of Meghan Schmidbauer to Senior Director for Detroit Drives Degrees. In this role, she will support and coordinate stakeholders and staff efforts to implement the strategic plan, which serves as the foundation for the Detroit Regional Talent Compact. Schmidbauer will also focus on coordinating the program’s initiatives with the Chamber’s overall education and  talent strategy to ensure the region has the talent pipeline needed to promote robust economic growth.

Since 2020, Schmidbauer has served as Director of Student Success and Postsecondary Partnerships for Detroit Drives Degrees, developing the regional strategic plan to meet overall postsecondary attainment goals and reduce equity gaps.

“I knew from the moment I joined Detroit Drives Degrees that I became part of something special,” Schmidbauer said. “I look forward to this new opportunity to work more closely with our dedicated stakeholders as we focus on the region’s needs through the dynamic partnerships fostered through the Talent Compact. I’m excited to transition into this new role and continue the momentum of our collective work.”

Schmidbauer previously served as the Assistant Dean of Admissions and K-12 Partnerships at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio, developing postsecondary education access approaches with partner colleges, employers, state and national educational organizations, government agencies, and secondary school districts.
